Harlem’s Apollo Theater recently unveiled its “Walk of Fame”. Gold plaques have been embedded into the sidewalk out front to commemorate African American musical icons. Built in 1914, the Apollo jump started the careers of countless jazz, soul, and R&B artists, ranging from Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan to D’Angelo and Lauryn Hill.
