Wow. NYC Politics have taken front-page space this week for sure. I live in L.A. and we have nothing on you all this week as far as newsworthiness goes. I found this blog from the 28daysofdiversity site. Keep up the good work and I'll keep checkin' in.

I agree 100%.

I had a disturbing convo with someone recently where they told me that some young people (late teens/early 20s) are trying to get infected because of the number of resources available for HIV infected people. They get housing & govt. benefits with minimal effort.

They don't see the negative ramifications of getting the disease.

Once the word was put out that you won't die as long as you can take a pill people were like cool. The danger was taken out of the idea of getting H.I.V. and when that was done it did a great disservice to the African-American communitty. See what they failed to say along with you taking the medicine to keep you alive is that you must first be able to afford the medicine. You must be able to afford all of your doctors visits, you must be in an environment that is conducive to healthy lvining. You must be able to rest and care for yourself when something does happen. You must be able to eat the right foods. You must be able to do all the things Magic Johnson can do because he is a millionaire. You must have money like a millionaire to live like him because after almost 20yrs look at how healthy he looks. Wrong information is just as deadly as no information. Once the threat of death was taken away from the idea of H.I.V. people said cool and were not as careful. The data is there to show that when H.I.V. first came on the scene The Gay Communitty said look this how to stop it and they stopped the numbers from going up. Somewhere that message was lost and this what you get....
