Weekly With Ed Gordon Interviews Charlie Rangel and Discusses Bishop Eddie Long with Rev. Calvin Butts and Others
“Part news show, part one-on-one interviews and roundtable discussions, Weekly With Ed Gordon goes beyond the front page of news headlines and digs deep into the issues and stories that matter most to African Americans“, says the BET press release.
Gordon’s new show is a welcomed addition to the channel who news production quality has declined and become non-existent in recent years. Yes, they’ve had great news specials, but they were still missing a show with the journalistic caliber that Gordon brings with this show.
First introduced to audiences on BET in 1988, Gordon’s past interviews include Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, Halle Berry, Louis Farrakhan and Michael Jackson for BET News. He has also been a contributing correspondent for 60 Minutes II, The Today Show and Dateline and hosted News and Notes with Ed Gordon on NPR and the weekly news show Our World for Black Enterprise.
In the premiere episode, which airs Sunday, October 3rd, Gordon interviews Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel in an one-on-one interview and has a roundtable discussion with television personality and radio host Montel Williams, CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield and Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church’s Reverend Calvin Butts on topics from Bishop Eddie Long to ethics and politics.
Weekly With Ed Gordon promises to engage the most prolific thinkers, news makers and lawmakers on a weekly basis and also serve as a forum to focus on local and national solutions to issues affecting African American communities.
