Tavis Smiley Reports From Riverside Church in Harlem — Martin Luther King: A Call to Conscience

One year before he was assassinated, Dr. Martin Luther King delivered a speech in the Nave at The Riverside Church in Harlem, challenging the morality of the Vietnam conflict and urging a national discussion about the role of America in the world.
Talk show host Tavis Smiley, examines Dr. King’s famous “Beyond Vietnam” speech in a series of interviews conducted in the Nave. Among those featured in the broadcast include Dr. Cornel West, “Beyond Vietnam” co-writer Vincent Harding, entertainers Harry Belafonte and Tony Bennett, and Riversider Gwen Shepherd.
This one hour show will air Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 8:00 pm on PBS (Channel 13) and will be repeated on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 1:00 am (Channel 13) and again at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on WLIW (Check other listings).
