Take Action — Tell New York Senate Republicans to Sign the Bipartisan Operating Agreement
The other day I told you about the stand still in the New York State Senate and Governor Paterson’s special meeting to try to get legislation passed.
The Citizen Action Center of New York is asking people to send a message to the Senate Republicans to sign a bipartisan operating agreement that will pass bills which will have a significant impact on all our lives. They say:
We’re just a day away from threatening hundreds of thousands of jobs and even greater financial difficulties for New York if the Senate Republicans don’t sign on to the short-term bipartisan operating agreement and pass critically urgent legislation set to expire.
Tomorrow night, a set of legislative deadlines will be upon us: allowing counties across New York to raise sorely needed revenue, funding the Power for Jobs program that affects 250,000 jobs, and mayoral control of New York City schools to name just a few.
These bills will have a significant impact on the lives of all New Yorkers.
The Senate Democrats have proposed a fair and equitable, short-term bipartisan operating agreement that would allow the Senate to pass this urgent legislation in time to make a difference. But, the Republicans won’t sign it.
We must tell the Senate Republicans to stop playing politics with needed jobs and new revenue for New York!
