The Black Alumni Council of Columbia University provides scholarships for seven students attending their Alma Mater each year. They aim to reach their goal each year through various fund raising events geared toward different members of the Black Alumni community and other philanthropic young people. This spring, they will host a cocktail party as part of their continuous effort to raise more money for some exceptional young people.

Who: Columbia University boasts a number of prominent Black Alumni-from the Harlem City Council candidate, Landon Dais to Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam of the New York Appellate Court to President Barack Obama. However, this event will encompass more than Columbia Alums. They are inviting all philanthropic young Black professionals in the City and plan for many of Harlem’s Black elite to be in attendance.

What: A classy cocktail fundraiser and the must-go-to event of the evening. They will charge at $5 dollars at the door and encourage the purchase of raffle tickets to win a variety of prizes that they will have on display. They  will be raffling off prizes from Harlem Vendors such as the Studio Museum of Harlem and Harlem Vintage

When: Friday, June 19, 2009 from 9:00 pm – 2:00 am

Where: SVNTN Below, 117th street and Frederick Douglass BLVD
