Harlem Heights’ Harlem Hot Spots
A couple of weeks ago, we told you about BET’s Harlem Heights. We also introduced Briana, Ashlie and Landon, three of the cast members. Since then, there’s been a premiere at the Apollo with a fabulous gift bag, rave reviews by some and not so kind words from others.
Like the show or not, it highlights some of Harlem’s long time favorites, as well as some of the new establishments in the neighborhood.
Some of Briana and Pierre’s favorites include Native, Covo and Miss Maude’s Spoonbread Too for food, 67 Orange Street for lounging with friends, Club Body for a night on the town, Dr. Jays for casual wear and B. Oyama for upscale gentleman clothing.

The show, while interesting, is somewhat disappointing because 95% precent of the cast is not originally from Harlem. It’s evident that many in the cast lack the swagger and cultural mannerisms that are absorbed and exhibited by growing up in a unique community such as Harlem. I hope the next cast is more authentic and representive of the true Heights of Harlem.
