With a performance of The Pocketbook Monologues
The Pocketbook Monologues is a collection of stories from women of color that reveals their heartfelt emotions about intimacy, performed in the style of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, but with the Black female perspective front and center. Prepare to be wowed by a wonderful cast that delivers tender and stirring performances, while engaging the audience in a dialog about sexuality, intimacy and responsibility. This incredible performance promises to bring audiences to their feet, but more importantly, encourage them to address these issues in their own homes and community.
The Pocketbook Monologues comes to New York City with one special performance on October 11, 2008 at the Sage Theatre.
The Voices of Women Organizing Project (VOW), is the designated charitable partner commitment to improving policies and practices that affect battered women. To commemorate our first fundraiser, two special guests will be honored in an inaugural ceremony following the performance.
