Open Letter from Harlem 4 Obama

Dear Obama Supporter:

What a pleasure it was meeting some of you for the first time last weekend at the Grand Opening of the Harlem4Obama (H4O) Campaign Office located at 2479 Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 133rd Street. This grassroots organization is possible and successful because of people like you who generously volunteer your time.

We need your help staffing the front desks at H4O and registering voters. The word has gotten out that we are hand delivering all voter registration forms completed in our office, so there has been a tremendous response to that and our need for front office personnel is our greatest need right now.

Ideally, we’d like H4O’s office hours to be from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day so that we are available to the Harlem community before and after work hours. Also, we’d like like to have three people work every shift so that two people are in the front office at all times and can relieve each other as necessary.

Below, you will find a brief summary of the duties as well as the shifts where help is needed:

Front Office Representative Duties (Everyone will be trained)

• Greet all guests
• Register voters and answer questions about voter registration
• Data entry [enter all WIR's (Walk-In Registrants) and potential volunteers]
• Print out poll site locations for registered voters
• File voter registration forms, print cover letter and deliver forms to the Board of Elections office downtown
• Take phone and walk-in messages
• Confirm voter registration status
• Computer experience is necessary

Office Shifts

Monday to Friday
7:00-10:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
2:00-5:00 p.m.
5:00-9:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday
7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
4:00-9:00 p.m.

Please respond back with the day(s) and shift(s) you are available to volunteer. The smallest amount of time you can give, even if it’s not a full shift, would be greatly appreciated.

Remember, if people are not registered, they can’t vote for Barack!
