A Look Back — Sweet Tooth Wednesdays at Moca Lounge

I don’t spend enuff time in my own hood, so after Jazmine Sullivan, I headed uptown to Moca Lounge (2210 Frederick Douglass Ave. @ 119th St.). My boy Dre had been raving about this spot, so I figured I would check it out while I was still out.

The spot itself is small, but intimate enough that folks can have a one-on-one conversation without feeling like they have to scream over everyone else. As I made my way through the crowd, I remembered that the DJ was one of the bruhs, so I headed ova to say hello. (DJ Jon Quick was killin’ it fyi…) While walking through the crowd, I noticed that most people must have come straight from work because about half of the crowd was wearing professional attire. (Another positive in my opinion…at least you can assume they are employed!)

When I walked in, one of the first things I noticed is the crowd. Most people ranged from their late 20’s - late 30’s, so I wouldn’t recommend this spot to someone who’s looking for the “bump-n-grind” crowd. Though I’m still young (2* to be exact lol), I can definitely appreciate a more mature crowd to socialize with. (more)
