New York City Comptroller (and 2009 Mayoral Candidate) William Thompson, Jr., and Lloyd Williams, Chairman and CEO of Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce preside over the NASDAQ opening bell.

The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce originally incorporated in 1886 as the Harlem Board of Trade, is the oldest continual business organization in upper Manhattan. The Chamber is now in its 3rd millennium of continued services to the Upper Manhattan area in general and the New York region in particular.

The NASDAQ (acronym for National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation System) is an American stock exchange. It is the largest electronic screen-based equity securities trading market in the United States. With approximately 3,200 companies, it lists more companies and has more trading volume per day than any other stock exchange in the world.

The NASDAQ building is located in the heart of Manhattan in Times Square.
