By now, considering how well it has done at the box office, most people have seen American Gangster. I have seen it twice myself and each time I walked away feeling entertained as well as educated. Amidst the violence, death, and drugs there is something indeed to be learned by this film. However, it is sometimes lost in the shadows of critics who blame movies like this and music inspired by the issues depicted in such movies for the ills of our society.
